Yusuf Karaman Special Education Practice School

The building of Yusuf Karaman was a primary school in 1959. However, it closed in the 2006-2007 academic year due to the decrease in the number of students and turned into an Autistic Children Education Center. The school building, which was taken under protection by the Ministry of Culture in 2001 due to its architectural features of the Republic Period, still preserves the characteristics of its period. The name of our school was updated as "Yusuf Karaman Special Education Practice School" with the Special Education Services Regulation dated 07.07.2018 and numbered 30471. Our school offers education services to autistic students who need special education at kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Stage levels. It is aimed to support individuals who need special education in terms of academic, social, and skills, to facilitate their adaptation to life, and to gain academic skills as well as the independent life skills required for them. It is an official educational institution affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, which conducts education and training studies based on special education methods and techniques in these activities. As of the 2020-2021 academic year, 17 teachers and 2 administrators are working in our school. In order for our students with autism to use their social adaptation and communication skills in the most appropriate way to their environment
